About St. Lawrence Market

St. Lawrence Market is a historic market complex on Front Street East and one of Toronto’s most recognizable food destinations. The South Market houses permanent merchants selling produce, meat, seafood, baked goods, prepared foods and specialty products, while the North Market hosts the Saturday Farmers Market.

Because admission is free and the market is centrally located, it works equally well as a quick lunch stop or a core part of an Old Toronto sightseeing day.

02

Why Visit

It is one of Toronto’s best low-commitment attractions: you can browse for free, eat well, experience a historic part of the city and continue walking to several other major downtown destinations.

04

What Makes It Special

St. Lawrence combines everyday local food shopping with genuine tourist appeal, giving it more authenticity than a purpose-built attraction while still being easy for first-time visitors.

05

Know Before You Go

Good to Know

The South Market is closed Mondays. Saturdays start very early because of the Farmers Market and can become crowded by late morning.

Talk of Toronto Tip

Go before the lunch rush, sample more than one vendor and then walk east toward the Distillery District or west toward the Hockey Hall of Fame.

06

Accessibility

The market provides accessible routes and facilities. Individual merchant layouts can vary.
