Toronto Islands & Centre Island
The Toronto Islands are the city's waterfront escape, offering beaches, trails, picnic space, family attractions and some of the best skyline views just a short ferry ride from downtown.
About Toronto Islands & Centre Island
Toronto Island Park is a chain of islands just offshore from downtown Toronto, reached primarily by ferry from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. Centre Island is the most popular family-oriented arrival point, with parkland, beaches, walking and cycling routes, picnic areas and seasonal attractions.
The islands are equally useful for relaxed dates, family days and photography-focused sightseeing. The ferry ride itself adds to the experience by opening up clear views back toward Toronto’s skyline.

3 photosWhy Visit
The islands offer a complete change of pace from downtown without leaving Toronto, making them one of the city’s strongest warm-weather attractions for families, couples and visitors.
What Makes It Special
The combination of beaches, park space, car-free pathways and unobstructed skyline views makes the islands feel like a mini getaway minutes from the downtown core.
Know Before You Go
Weekend and holiday ferry lines can be long, especially late morning going to the islands and early evening returning to the city.
Buy ferry tickets in advance and travel earlier than the peak crowd. For skyline photos, leave enough time to enjoy golden hour before heading back downtown.
Accessibility
Ferry and island accessibility varies by vessel, dock and facility. The City provides accessibility information and designated waiting areas; review current updates before travelling if you require assistance.
