Cineplex is offering $5 general-admission tickets and $5 small popcorn, plus tax, on Sept. 5 and 6, with premium-format upgrades available for an added fee.
Toronto moviegoers can catch a film and a small popcorn for $5 each this weekend. Cineplex’s limited-time offer runs Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6, with tax added to both prices.
The ticket price covers general admission. Cineplex says moviegoers can upgrade eligible screenings to premium formats for an additional fee, making the deal useful for both a standard cinema outing and select large-format showings.
What the Cineplex $5 deal includes

Which screenings qualify?
The offer applies to eligible general-admission feature-film performances scheduled during the two-day promotion. It does not apply to non-feature films or Cineplex Events performances.
There is also a specific format exclusion: the deal is not valid for 70MM performances, including IMAX 70MM screenings. Other premium formats may qualify, but the upgrade cost is not included in the $5 general-admission price.
What to know before you buy
The popcorn offer covers a small bag only. Larger sizes, other concession items and any additional add-ons are outside that advertised price.
Cineplex also says the promotion cannot be combined with another promotion, coupon or discount. Check the ticket type and final total before completing an online purchase, particularly if you choose a premium auditorium.
Part of the weekend’s proceeds will support Canadian Picture Pioneers, an organization that provides financial assistance and education to members of Canada’s film industry.
