Toronto has ordered Live Nation to secure and assess storm-damaged Rogers Stadium before the outdoor venue can host AC/DC in mid-September.
AC/DC’s Toronto concert now sits behind a city safety order. After Wednesday’s severe storm damaged Rogers Stadium near Downsview Park, Toronto inspectors told Live Nation to secure the site, retain an engineer and complete required repairs before the venue can welcome another crowd.
The show remains scheduled for mid-September, but the order creates a tight deadline for the promoter. Live Nation must submit an engineering assessment and proposed solutions by September 8, then update the city on completed work by September 11.
What Toronto found at Rogers Stadium
City inspectors said part of the venue’s north-side structure had collapsed. Seats were displaced, and portions of the site were left in a condition that could pose a risk to public health or safety.
The seven-part order requires Live Nation to prevent access to the damaged areas while the assessment takes place. The promoter must follow the engineer’s recommendations, and any reconstruction work will require a building permit.
Images from the venue show blue bleachers scattered across the grounds and sections of the grandstands appearing partially collapsed. The city’s requirements go beyond replacing loose seats: the structure must be assessed and made safe before the venue can host people again.
A narrow window before AC/DC arrives
The September 11 progress deadline leaves only a short period before AC/DC’s planned Toronto appearance. The city has not announced that the concert is cancelled, but the venue must satisfy the safety order first.
Live Nation said it has been working with Toronto’s technical teams since the venue was set up. The promoter described the storm as a severe and significant weather event and said inspection, assessment and remediation are standard steps after major weather damage.
Rogers Stadium has faced other challenges since opening last summer. Live Nation previously said it would make adjustments after concertgoers raised concerns about crowd management, while local officials also raised noise complaints.
