TIFF 2026’s opening weekend will extend beyond the theatres and onto Yorkville Avenue. From Thursday, September 10 to Sunday, September 13, the Rogers Red Carpet will transform the stretch between Bellair Street and Hazelton Avenue into a free public festival destination.

The four-day program brings together live music, interactive games, photo moments and outdoor film screenings. It gives Toronto residents another way to experience TIFF’s opening weekend without a ticket to a traditional festival screening.

A live lineup with rock, beats and orchestral scale

The music lineup covers a wide range of sounds. Our Lady Peace, Kid Koala, Jeremie Albino and The 99s are scheduled to perform, alongside the Casa Loma Orchestra with members of the E Street Band.

At dusk, the focus shifts toward cinema. The program includes films from TIFF’s 2026 Short Cuts Programme, along with filmmaker conversations that bring festival discussion into the outdoor setting.
