Community54 and Made by City Life’s Toronto Man Can TIFF activation paired a capsule collection with basketball-themed vintage clothing and ephemera across Kensington, King Street West and Ossington.

A mobile Toronto streetwear activation put basketball nostalgia, vintage collecting and a TIFF-inspired capsule collection in the same conversation this summer.
Called Toronto Man Can TIFF, the project from Community54 and Made by City Life ran from June 13 to 20 across rotating spots in Kensington, King Street West and Ossington. Instead of using one permanent storefront, the activation moved between three Toronto neighbourhoods.

A capsule collection backed by basketball history
The activation centred on the Toronto Man Can TIFF capsule collection. It also featured an archival selection of hand-picked basketball-themed vintage clothing and ephemera.

That pairing connected a current Toronto collection with the visual history of basketball apparel and memorabilia. The promotional imagery used a clapperboard motif, while the TIFF reference placed the project alongside the city’s film-season culture.
Where the mobile activation appeared
The announcement named Kensington, King Street West and Ossington as the activation’s locations, but did not provide a specific address or fixed hours. It also did not include ticketing details.

Updog Prerollers was listed as providing a free item with each purchase. The announcement did not specify what the item would be.

The people behind the campaign
Community54 and Made by City Life led the activation. Promotional imagery also named Wesley and Woody, though it did not identify their roles.
Photography was credited to Ahmed Mouhoubi and Andrea Lira-Sanmi.

With its mix of capsule merchandise, archival sports clothing and a mobile neighbourhood format, Toronto Man Can TIFF offered a distinctly local take on the overlap between basketball style, streetwear and Toronto’s film culture.
