The free Crate Hackers livestream brings Skratch Bastid, DJ Dynamix and DJ Popo together to build a 90s R&B DJ crate from scratch.
Most DJ sets ask you to listen. Tonight’s 90s R&B Crate Hackathon asks you to watch the decisions happen.
Skratch Bastid, DJ Dynamix and DJ Popo will build a 90s R&B crate live on Twitch, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The free online session will show how the DJs choose records, arrange the order, test blends and decide what gets cut.
That process is the event’s main draw. Instead of presenting a finished set, the Crate Hackers session lets viewers follow the choices behind it as the crate takes shape.

A 90s R&B set built in public
The DJs will create a crate that viewers can drop into Serato for their own preparation, including a weekend wedding set. The email promoting the event specifically points to the impact 90s R&B can have on a dance floor after 10 p.m.
For DJs, that makes the livestream more useful than a simple track list. Viewers will see how the records relate to one another, where blends fit and which selections do not make the final cut.
For everyone else, it offers a closer look at the debates that shape a throwback set before it reaches the room.
How to watch the Crate Hackers livestream
The event is free and will stream live on Crate Hackers’ Twitch channel. Viewers can also RSVP through the event page.
