Nuno Studios and Lost Tonic Studios are partnering on the event. Along with performing, selected artists can receive feedback, meet other emerging musicians and expand their network.

Big Ives and SLMN will lead the feedback

Live feedback will come from Ivan Evidente, known as Big Ives, and producer SLMN, pronounced “sol-o-mon.” The event flyer identifies SLMN as a Grammy Award-winning producer and notes that more industry judges will be revealed.

The format puts the focus on how a song connects beyond the performer’s own circle. Artists will hear reactions to their work while meeting others building careers in Toronto’s independent music community.

What artists need to submit

Applicants can submit one song only through the Press & Play form. It asks for a stage name, full name, contact details, city, song title, genre, song link, artist bio and a response about what they hope to gain from the showcase.

The form lists pop, R&B, EDM, rock, alternative, hip-hop and folk, along with an option for other genres. The organizers describe Press & Play as a night celebrating independent artists, emerging talent and the people behind the music.

Music submissions are free. If selected, artists will pay a $25 entry fee, according to the event flyer. The event materials do not list a separate public-admission price.
