Toronto has signed its 2026 second-round pick to a multi-year contract and converted guard Malachi Smith to a two-way deal.
Jaden Bradley is staying with the Toronto Raptors beyond his draft-night arrival. Toronto signed the guard to a multi-year contract on Monday and also converted Malachi Smith to a two-way deal.
The Raptors did not disclose financial terms, in line with team policy. The announcement gives Toronto a longer-term commitment to Bradley while adding another developing guard to its organization.
Bradley’s standout season at Arizona
Toronto selected Bradley 50th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. The six-foot-three, 205-pound guard arrived after a strong senior season with the Arizona Wildcats.
Bradley averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 39 games. He also played 30.6 minutes per game.
His season brought Big 12 Player of the Year honours, a spot on the conference’s first team and a place on its all-defensive team. Bradley also helped Arizona reach the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four.
That résumé gives Toronto a guard with experience as both a creator and defender. His next challenge will be adapting those strengths to the NBA level.
What the contract means for Toronto’s backcourt
The multi-year agreement does not reveal how quickly Bradley will move into Toronto’s regular rotation. It does, however, give the Raptors time to develop a player they chose in the second round without treating him as an immediate replacement or primary option.
Bradley’s size, passing numbers and defensive recognition stood out during his final college season. Those qualities could help him compete for opportunities as Toronto evaluates its guard depth, but his role will depend on how he adjusts to the pace and physical demands of the NBA.
For now, the deal is a clear investment in Bradley’s development. Toronto has secured its draft pick while continuing to build depth around its guard group.
Malachi Smith moves to a two-way contract
Smith signed with Toronto as a free agent on Aug. 17 before moving to a two-way contract. The six-foot-four shooting guard played 15 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, including four starts.
He averaged 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 23.9 minutes per game. His conversion gives Toronto another young perimeter player to develop alongside Bradley.
Together, the moves strengthen the Raptors’ guard pipeline without announcing a guaranteed major role for either player. Bradley remains the more significant long-term commitment, with his multi-year contract following a conference player of the year season at Arizona.
